Privacy Policy

How Prymaxx Ventures Inc handles information when you use the My QR & Barcode scanner Android application.

Privacy at a glance

1. App and responsible entity

This Privacy Policy applies solely to My QR & Barcode scanner (the “App”), Android package com.myqrbarcodescanner.app. The App is published and operated by Prymaxx Ventures Inc and developed by Christopher Muncey.

2. Scope and core privacy approach

The App is a local-first QR code and barcode scanner and generator. It does not require an account and does not operate a developer-controlled backend for uploading camera frames, selected images, scan history, or generated-code content. “On-device processing” in this Policy means the information is handled inside the App on your device and is not collected by Prymaxx Ventures Inc through a developer-operated server.

Codes can contain information that you or another person encoded, including names, contact details, Wi-Fi credentials, website addresses, messages, calendar details, location coordinates, product identifiers, or payment-related links. The App treats the encoded content as user-provided content and processes it only to provide the features described below.

3. Information the App accesses or processes

3.1 Live camera frames

When you grant camera permission and open the scanner, the App uses CameraX and bundled Google ML Kit barcode scanning components to analyze live frames on your device. Camera frames are used to detect supported codes and are not saved to the App’s history or uploaded to Prymaxx Ventures Inc.

3.2 Images you choose

You can use the Android system photo picker to select one or more images for code detection. The App receives access only to the images you select and analyzes them on your device. On supported Android versions, the App does not request broad photo, media, or storage permission. A reference to a selected image may be kept with a history item so the App can show the source preview while Android continues to permit access.

3.3 Scan and generated-code records

The App stores the following information in its local Room database to provide history, favorites, search, filters, and result features:

3.4 Information you enter to create a code

Depending on the template you choose, you may enter text, a website address, Wi-Fi network details, contact or business-card information, a phone number, email or SMS content, calendar details, or a social or payment profile link. This information is encoded into the QR code you create and may be saved in local history. You decide what to enter and whether to export or share it.

3.5 Preferences and language

The App stores preferences such as beep, vibration, automatic copy, search engine, appearance, language-selection status, and Android per-app language settings locally using Android DataStore and system language services.

3.6 Clipboard

The App reads clipboard text only after you tap the create-from-clipboard control. It writes code content to the clipboard when you tap Copy or when you have enabled automatic copying after a successful scan. Clipboard data may also be visible to Android and other apps according to your operating-system settings.

4. How information is used

The information described above is used only to:

Prymaxx Ventures Inc does not use code contents for behavioral advertising, profiling, analytics, or sale to data brokers.

5. Permissions and device capabilities

6. Sharing and external services

We do not sell your personal information. The current App does not automatically send scan history or generated-code content to Prymaxx Ventures Inc, advertising networks, or analytics providers.

When you explicitly choose an action, Android may pass relevant code content to an app or service you select. Examples include a browser or search engine, Wi-Fi settings, contacts, calendar, maps, dialer, SMS or email app, storage provider, social app, payment destination, or Android share sheet. These recipients process the information under their own privacy policies. Review a code and its destination before continuing, especially if it contains personal, location, network, financial, or contact data.

The App uses bundled Google ML Kit barcode scanning for on-device decoding and ZXing Core for on-device code generation. The current integration does not send your code contents to Google or ZXing through those libraries.

7. Advertising, analytics, accounts, and purchases

The current version reviewed for this Policy does not include advertising, analytics, attribution, account registration, cloud synchronization, or Google Play Billing SDKs. If a future version adds any of these capabilities, this Policy and the App’s Google Play Data safety disclosures will be updated to describe the actual data practices before or when the change is released.

8. Data retention, backup, and deletion

The App’s current Android backup configuration includes preferences in cloud backup. Scan-history databases are excluded from cloud backup but may be included in Android device-to-device transfer. Backup and transfer availability depend on your device, Android version, Google account, and provider settings. Copies held by a device or backup provider are governed by that provider.

How to delete your data: use the App’s history controls to delete records, or use Android Settings to clear the App’s storage. Uninstalling the App removes its private local data from the device, subject to any separate exported files or backup/device-transfer copies controlled by you or your provider. The App has no user accounts, so there is no server-side account or account-deletion process.

9. Security

The App uses Android app sandboxing, scoped system pickers, secure FileProvider sharing, and HTTPS-only app configuration to help protect information. Core scanning and generation are performed on the device. You are responsible for protecting access to your device, clipboard, exported files, and any codes you share. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.

10. Your choices

11. Children’s privacy

The App is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13 or the equivalent minimum age in the user’s jurisdiction. Prymaxx Ventures Inc does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a developer-operated server. If you believe a child has provided information to us outside the App, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

12. International processing

Core code scanning, generation, history, and preferences are processed locally. Information may be processed in another country only when you direct it to an external app or service, or when your device or backup provider performs a backup or device transfer. Those providers determine their own processing locations and safeguards.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, legal requirements, or data practices change. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and publish the updated version at the App’s privacy-policy URL. Material changes will be communicated as required by law.
